Chefs, film makers and nutritionists: get involved in SLOWMED project

Are you a chef, a film maker, a nutritionist or an expert in food communication? Would you like to improve your international skills and develop your CV? Get involved in a unique experience combining creativity and knowledge with a view to promoting the Mediterranean diet as a means of intercultural dialogue.

SLOWMED project is offering the opportunity to 10 people - 2 professional chefs, 2 amateur chefs, 2 film makers, 2 scene directors, 1 nutritionist, 1 food communication expert – to be part of a set of activities for the promotion of the Mediterranean diet including a cooking competition, a research on Mediterranean food traditions, the shooting of a documentary, the release of cookbooks and the participation in two international events in Egypt and in Portugal. All costs related to the involvement in SLOWMED activities will be covered.

‘Slow Food as a means of dialogue in Mediterranean contexts’ (SLOWMED) at a glance

Against growing globalization, the conservation of the Mediterranean culinary heritage represents an important factor in maintaining its richness and healthy character. As a contribution to this challenge, SLOWMED project aims to promote creative intercultural dialogue with a view to consolidating a Mediterranean cultural identity based on its culinary heritage and to encourage the intergenerational transfer of traditions to young people. The project will involve a wide range of artists from the Mediterranean region in a new way of highlighting the culinary heritage. Food contests, artistic competitions and educational workshops addressed to children will help spread the project’s message to various social groups of the Mediterranean area.

Coordinated by the Center for Creative Development Danilo Dolci (Italy, Sicily), SLOWMED partnership gathers 7 organizations from Egypt, Italy, Lebanon, Palestine, Portugal and Spain. The project total budget is € 1.5 million of which 90% as Programme contribution.
