CUSTOM MED project: international workshop on "customs procedures and supply chain management"

An international workshop focusing on "customs procedures and supply chain management" is being held in Aqaba (Jordan) on 16th June under the CUSTOM MED project.

The aim of the event is to review best existing practices for ports operations management including legislation, procedures and use of ICT systems. Conclusions of the workshop will contribute to the definition of a road map aiming to simplify and harmonize custom procedures among the ports of Aqaba, Beirut, Piraeus and Alicante.

These issues will be discussed by representatives of Jordan, Italian and Spanish customs administrations, Jordan Ministry of Transport and authorities/companies from the Aqaba area.

The CUSTOM MED project is pleased to invite all interested people to take part in the workshop. For any further information, please contact Mrs. Amani Al-Bawab (Aqaba Development Corporation, ABawab@adc.jo) and Mr. Fabio Ballini (University of Genoa, fabio.ballini@unige.it).

CUSTOM MED in brief
The purpose of the project is to increase goods circulation among selected Mediterranean ports (Aqaba, Beirut, Piraeus and Alicante) by developing common customs procedures and increasing the use of ICT. This will contribute to reducing the length of import-clearing processes reinforcing at the same time the competiveness of the concerned ports.
