Discover the world of jellyfishes: MED-JELLYRISK project organises an information day in Tunisia

Jellyfishes are more and more numerous on the beaches of the Mediterranean Sea. This situation is due to several factors such as global warming and overfishing. Sun, sea, summer: enjoy your holidays in complete safety and minimize the risk of jellyfish stings.

In this context, MED-JELLYRISK project organises an awareness day to take place on 14 June at the "Club Jeunes Science" of Tunis in order to have a closer look at the work of jellyfishes.

Participants will have the opportunity to get to know more about the causes and consequences of jellyfish outbreaks, actions and treatment in case of jellyfish stings as well as monitoring programmes implemented by MED-JELLYRISK project. In addition to games and quizzes, the MED-JELLYRISK app for Smartphone will be showcased: this latest allows to receive real time information on the potential presence of jellyfishes on beaches located in Malta and Catalonia and to report any jellyfish sighting. The app will be soon available for Tunisian coasts.

The event is organized by the Faculty of Sciences of Bizerte and the Tunisian National Institute of Agronomy,
