FOSTEr in MED: kick-off meeting

The strategic project "FOSTEr in MED" (Fostering Solar Technology in the Mediterranean area) will officially start on 26th February in Cagliari (Italy) in the presence of the nine organizations part of the initiative.

Despite favorable weather conditions, the development of solar energy in the Mediterranean area is still limited by technical, institutional, financial and market barriers.

FOSTEr in MED intends to fully exploit the potential of solar technologies through the transfer of technical knowhow to actors of the sector (SMEs, engineers, students), the identification of best practices in the policy and regulatory fields and the implementation of five pilot projects aiming to equip public buildings with innovative solar photovoltaic plants.

FOSTEr in MED total budget is € 4.500.000 out of which € 4.050.000 as ENPI contribution (90%). The partnership, coordinated by the Department of Civil Engineering, Environment and Architecture of the University of Cagliari (Italy, Sardegna), gathers the following organizations:

• Association of Mediterranean Chambers of Commerce and Industry (Spain, Cataluña)
• Chamber of Commerce of Cagliari, Special Agency Center of Services for Enterprises (Italy, Sardegna)
• Confederation of Egyptian European Business Associations (Egypt, Al Iskandanyah)
• Industrial Research Institute (Lebanon)
