International Augmented Med (I AM) at a glance

The project specifically focuses on the application of innovative multimedia technologies in the management of cultural and natural heritage. Visitors will have the opportunity to rediscover various sites and monuments - such as the Library of Alexandria (Egypt), the El Khadr Greek-Orthodox church located in Taybeh (Palestine) and the archaeological museum of Dar-es-Saraya in Jordan - under a new perspective thanks to the potentialities offered by 3D reconstructions, "Augmented Reality" installations or interactive illumination.

A large portion of the project will also be dedicated to awareness raising, training and transfer of innovative tools for tourism site management.

A first workshop on interactive technologies for the promotion of natural and cultural heritage already took place at the Bibliotheca Alexandrina from 3th to 6th June 2013. It gathered 20 young Egyptian visual artists who received extensive training regarding "Augmented Reality" as a new means of cultural heritage perception and promotion.

"International Augmented Med" is coordinated by the Municipality of Alghero (Sardinia, Italy) and gathers 13 partners from 7 countries. Its total budget is € 3.060.650 of which € 2.754.583 as ENPI grant (90%).

More information on the pilot sites to be enhanced and coming activities can be found on I AM website and in the first project newsletter.
