The MED-PHARES project gathers five organizations from Italy, France, Lebanon and Tunisia. Its main objective is to define strategies for the integrated management of lighthouses, semaphores and beacons which constitute unique features of the historical and cultural heritage of the Mediterranean maritime areas. Through pilot actions, such as the inventory of the existing heritage and the restoration of selected sites, MED-PHARES aims to contribute to the long-term enhancement of lighthouses as resources for sustainable tourism in Mediterranean coastal regions. The EU contribution to the project is € 1.7 million.
