MED-PHARES at a glance

MED-PHARES project gathers five organizations from Italy, France, Lebanon and Tunisia. Its main objective is to define strategies for the integrated management of lighthouses, semaphores and beacons which constitute unique features of the historical and cultural heritage of the Mediterranean maritime areas. Through pilot actions - such as the inventory of the existing heritage, the restoration of selected sites and the development of a Smartphone application containing detailed information on identified lighthouses - MED-PHARES project will contribute to the long-term enhancement of lighthouses as relevant resources for the sustainable tourism in Mediterranean coastal regions.
