Press conference - presentation of the results of the ENPI CBC Med Programme: Cairo, 15 March 2018

A press conference will be held in Cairo on 15 March 2018 at 10.00 a.m. (Egypt local time), at the headquarters of the Ministry of Investment and International Cooperation, to present for the very first time the report titled "Acting together for the Mediterranean".

Drafted by Joint Managing Authority in collaboration with the representatives of the 13 countries participating in the Programme, the report comprises an assessment of the outcomes and impact of the 95 projects funded during the 2007-2013 period. The report shows how the Mediterranean Sea Basin Programme has become a "hub" for cooperation among public and private actors - including Ministries, public administrations, universities, civil society organisations and SMEs - allowing over 700 organisations to work together and jointly address some of the most relevant challenges in the Mediterranean area from socio-economic development to the adaptation to climate change. But most of all, the report gives voice to the people and tells how projects positively contributed to improving their lives.

The press conference to take place in Cairo on 15 March will see the participation of the following speakers:

• H.E Dr. Sahar Nasr, Minister of Investment and International Cooperation;
• H.E Major General Abu Bakr El Gendy, Minister of Local Development (to be confirmed);
• Prof. Francesco Pigliaru, President of the Autonomous Region of Sardinia, Managing Authority of the ENPI/ENI CBC Med Programmes;
• H.E. Ivan Surkos, Ambassador of the European Union to Egypt (to be confirmed);
• H.E. Giampaolo Cantini, Ambassador of Italy to Egypt;
• Ms. Anna Catte, Director General, Managing Authority of the ENPI/ENI CBC Med Programmes.

Finally, the results achieved by some of the projects will be introduced by Egyptian organisations.
