Using sun to heat, cool and power houses: STS-Med conference on exploitation of concentrated solar energy

Heating, cooling and powering houses are among the applications of concentrated solar power which will be showcased on 14th March during STS-Med project’s regional conference in Athens. The objective of the event to take place at the University of Athens is to review the current state of implementation of STS-Med and offer a picture of concentrated solar initiatives in Cyprus, Greece, Italy and Jordan.

Concentrated solar power systems use mirrors to concentrate a large area of sunlight onto a small area. Electrical power is produced when the concentrated light is converted to heat. In this context, STS-Med focuses on the development on small-scale plants and the promotion of their adoption in order to serve the energy need of public buildings.
