Priority: Priority A.1.2 Strengthen and support euro-Mediterranean networks, clusters, consortia and value-chains in traditional and non-traditional sectors
Brief description of the project: MED4CLIM would be the Mediterranean cluster of Ecopreneurs for the Climate. ECO4CLIM we are a "glocal" community of climate practice materialized into a global network of climate innovation labs, where climate organizers catalyze multi-stakeholder co-creation by engaging ecopreneurs, civil society and other key actors in the design of sustainable business solutions to climate-related challenges faced by cities, communities, companies, and organizations. Onsite working sessions are continued over a global crowdsourcing platform, which adds world-class innovation and international talent. The business development pipeline is completed by partnering incubators/accelerators that refine, and scale up the resulting green businesses. Closing the loop, we identify best practices and successful models, and match them with existing challenges elsewhere; proceeding to import and export climate innovation across our global network for new ecopreneurs to replicate locally.
Main objectives – issues to be addressed: Our mission is to boost the creation and scale up the impact of cooperative, sound, and sustainable businesses that tackle climate change. To achieve it, the following concrete objectives guide our path: 1. To promote, connect, and empower climate-championing ecopreneurs; 2. To strengthen local green economy ecosystems; 2. To boost green business networks; 3. To implement the Paris Agreement and the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
Expected results: Fully operational climate innovation labs in the target MED countries, which will substantially contribute to the creation of hundreds of sustainable SMEs, and thousands of green jobs, the direct and indirect reduction of thousands of tons of CO2, and the improved climate resilience and adaptive capacities of cities, towns and communities all over the MED region.
Partners already involved: We already have partners from previous collaborations in Algeria, France, Greece, Israel, Italy, Palestine, Portugal, Spain and Tunisia.
Partners searched: We would like to find partners to lead and implement climate innovation labs in the following target countries: Cyprus, Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon and Malta.
