Brève description du projet : HELIOS project holistically addresses on the one hand the reduction of the energy demand for space cooling and heating of public BUILDINGS and on the other hand the minimizing of the cooling peak power during the days and the hours of heavy insolation by means of rehabilitation of public buildings interventions leading to increase their energy efficiency and RES utilization in space cooling in MED countries.
Objectifs principaux – problèmes à traiter: HELIOS aims at transferring experiences and learnt lessons in applying energy efficiency (EE) and Solar Heating and Cooling (SHC) technologies from some leading EUMC into the rest ones, mainly MPCs. In EUMCs: a) space heating and cooling accounts 50% (546 Mtoe) of energy consumption, where cooling shares 70% in warmer climates and is growing; b) RES and energy efficiency in energy mix is becoming very important, due EU energy policies In MPCs SHC and EE applications have a great potential
Résultats attendus: : - Public Buildings energy-mix efficiency plans/strategies adopted – Cross-border case studies on relevant solutions, conditions, opportunities and barriers - Pilots addressing rehabilitation of selected public buildings leading to energy efficiency and RES utilization in Solar Cooling - Awareness raising towards general public on available technologies and related opportunities - Training towards professionals, representing local technical base, to enhance offered services
