Brève description du projet : In the Middle Ages, until the Christian unification of the Iberian Peninsula at the turn of the XVI century, the entwined poetic subjects and musical forms of the Mediterranean Basin expressed the cultural unity among Muslims, Jews and Christians. At this point, the dispersal and exile of Jews and Muslims into various parts of the Ottoman Empire, in particular Salonika and Constantinople or into the Arabic-speaking territories gave birth to nowadays concept of Diaspora. The definition expanded throughout the 20th century to embrace the involuntary and forced displacement of other peoples.
