Innovative solutions for fish and shellfish in farm preservation against pathogens

Brief description of the project: Knowledge of parasite diversity is crucial for sustainable management and environmental conservation. The determination of different species of parasites can be based on the morphological criteria, the molecular tool or the discovery of the life cycle. The knowledge of the different stages of life cycle is a very interesting result that can be exploited in the event of epizootic emergence in farm of fish and shellfish where there is a high host density (propose solutions to reduce the rate of parasitism). Many parasites share the same environment as host-associated microbes. Researchers have historically focused on pathogenic aspects of microbes, but now it is recognized that microbial communities within an organism can be beneficial and essential to an individual’s health and may even determine susceptibility or resistance to an infectious agent. The interactions between parasites and microbes may themselves impact disease outcomes and are also not well resolved.
Objectifs principaux – problèmes à traiter: Diversity of parasites in teleost fish and Lamellibranchs (especially potential candidates for farming) Determination of parasite cycle life to propose solutions to reduce the rate of parasitism in farmed organisms and to preserve them from epidemic. Determination of bacterial load in parasitized and uninfected fish and molluscs to study microorganism-parasite interaction and impact on the host. Histopathological examination to determine the impact of parasites on host tissues
Résultats attendus: -improve knowledge about parasites diversity of fish and shellfish -detection of parasitosis in farm of fish and shellfish -Propose solutions to preserve the health of fish and shellfish in farm
