Bioeconomy and Agri-Technology in the Mediterranean
Thematic objective: Priority A.1.2 Strengthen and support euro-Mediterranean networks, clusters, consortia and value-chains in traditional and non-traditional sectors
Priority: Priority A.1.2 Strengthen and support euro-Mediterranean networks, clusters, consortia and value-chains in traditional and non-traditional sectors
Brief description of the project: The Institute for Research and Technology – Thessaly (IRETETH), one of the five research institutes of CERTH (www.certh.gr), is interested in participating in projects related to agri-technology and bioeconomy. Its Department of AgroTechnology is responsible for the promotion of research and services in the areas of sustainable agricultural production, rural environment management and new technologies in agriculture and bioeconomy.
Main objectives – issues to be addressed: I.RE.TE.TH.'s basic framework of operation includes the following specific regional goals: - to provide the required research personnel for the support of research projects and specialized studies combined with initiative for development in the Region of Thessaly and Central Greece. - to provide a “collaborative technological environment” for the development and promotion of innovation and advanced technologies to researchers, entrepreneurs, and national/local government partners.
Expected results: IRETETH develops biosensors for optimum CO¬2 concentration control in greenhouse environment for alleviating salinity stress problem. It contributes to precision greenhouse horticulture through the combined use of conventional sensors & remote sensing technology, embedded in a WSN & processing algorithms to provide the synthesised information (e.g. performance indicators) required for greenhouse control & decision making (sensors, robots, automation and farm management information systems.
