Brief description of the project: The proposed project aims to involve territorial actors from academia, research and training, local governments, territorial development agencies, NGOs and other relevant stakeholders involved in promoting and supporting the sustainable growth of Mediterranean regions through the empowerment of the Social Economy sector, to create an innovative cluster in the MED area to support the target groups to establish viable, innovative and competitive Social Enterprises. This will be achieved by building up on the experience gained in previous projects for Social Economy, best practice sharing and pilot testing of the results.
Main objectives – issues to be addressed: Empowering the Social Economy (SE) sector to foster fair, equitable and sustainable economic, social and territorial development, to advance cross-border integration; Eliminate participation barriers through the development of a framework for Micro and Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) in MED area; Tackling the maladjustment of skills and needs in Social Economy and lack with a system of standards and procedures to assure transparency, quality, comparability of consultancy and training in SE
Expected results: A common framework for the SE including a MED Social Business Label, standards and procedures for qualification recognition, for certification, training, consultants and trainers in SE and for social Entrepreneurs, to reduce participating barriers. Intensify network linkages between MSMEs, and with Universities/training centers, authorities at different scales: in-cluster, in-academia, in-region/country, for an innovative, knowledge based SE, able to provide answers to complex social matters.
