Priority: Priority B.4.4 Incorporate the Ecosystem-Based management approach to ICZM into local development planning, through the improvement of intra-territorial coordination among different stakeholders
Brief description of the project: The project focuses on fostering the ICZM of selected coastal zones of Mediterranean Basin towards a better balance of environmental, economic, social, cultural and recreational objectives. Innovative platforms for environmental monitoring and risk management based Earth Observation satellite and airborne data will be used for the benefit of Local Authorities and the general public scoping at an enhanced awareness of the impact of climatological changes to societal activities and tourism.
Main objectives – issues to be addressed: The main objectives of the project are to provide widely accessed innovative platforms and tools of environmental monitoring and risk management with all the relevant added-value information available to Local Authorities and public. To share meteorological and maritime (coastal) satellite and airborne data for enhanced climatological risk management and ICZM.
Expected results: A cooperative network between research, public, and private stakeholders that will be based on the provisioned platforms and tools towards an effective communication of added-value information, best practices, and models for risk management for the coastal regions of Mediterranean Basin.
