SUNBUILDING

Thematic objective: B.4 Environmental protection, climate change adaptation and mitigation
Priority: Priority B.4.3 Support cost-effective and innovative energy rehabilitations relevant to building types and climatic zones, with a focus on public buildings
Brief description of the project: The project and its pilot actions seek to demonstrate, as a main challenge, that it is possible to use solar concentration technology, in combination with biomass, as an optimal, simple and economical way to generate medium temperature of heating and cooling in order to be used in public buildings, and create a market and sustainable consumption in the Mediterranean Sea Basin so as to replace other fuel energies.
Main objectives – issues to be addressed: To establish a network of Public-Private cooperation for the improvement of the energy efficiency of public buildings through the use of the combination of thermal solar, photovoltaic and biomass energy for the creation of electricity and medium-temperature thermal energy for heating-cooling applications.
Expected results: 2 Efficient and effective integrated municipal energy management systems are planned and operationalised on 4 pilots; at least 6 local authorities adopting and implementing new energies management plans; and other contribution to be discussed with partners according the result indicators of the Programme.
Partners already involved: BECSA (Spain) applicant | FINNOVA Foundation (Spain), and nowadays in contact with other entities from Malta and Tunisia but not involved at the moment.
Partners searched: The project-team is looking for the following profile of partners from EUMC participant (European Union Mediterranean Countries) and from MPC (Mediterranean Partner Countries): Public administration, public or private companies or agencies with competences in ENERGY Management; Environment or Energy Agency; Chamber of Commerce, association or other business organisations/companies, SMEs and NGO.
