TRITON - Valorization of the Underwater Cultural & Natural Heritage for the boost of Development & Innovation in the MED area

Brief description of the project: Underwater Cultural & Natural Heritage sites can be a major growth asset of the overall local public wealth. By valorising Underwater Cultural Heritage sites, local authorities will extract important value added to the local tourism, economic development, and to the enhancement of the territories’ competitiveness. Nevertheless, low attention has been devoted to date in the promotion of these sites, and usually authorities do not include these assets/ resources in their development plans. Under current circumstances and perspectives, it is imperative to do so. The aim of the project is to aid and assist Local authorities sites to valorise their heritage and use them as a lever for local tourism, economic, social and cultural development.
Main objectives – issues to be addressed: The objective of the project is to show the path (by example) for the sustainable valorisation and promotion of the underwater cultural and natural heritage for the local authorities of the Mediterranean area, hence boosting the socioeconomic development.
Expected results: The expected project's main result is the increase of the local authorities' awareness, competence and capacity to valorise their underwater cultural and natural heritage as a growth asset for the boost of the economic development.
Partners already involved: There are already some partners involved from Greece, Croatia and Italia. Yet, any partner interested (but above all - highly related) to the subject from the entire area of the Mediterranean - is more than welcome to participate.
