Building Innovative Actions and Activities for Sustainable Tourism and Fundamental Growth
Objectif thématique: A.1 Développement des entreprises et des PME
Priorité: Priorité A.1.3 Encourager les initiatives et actions en matière de tourisme durable visant à la diversification dans de nouveaux segments et niches
Brève description du projet : Tourism, which tends to be one of the fastest growing economic sectors in the world, is closely linked to development and represents one of the main income sources for many developing countries. The Mediterranean base is a unique tourism and business destination and a major attraction for investors in search of new opportunities. The tourism model is not always sustainable and is mostly based on a mass highly seasonal tourism usually limited to destinations related to specific heritage sites. Most tourism models are not using new and innovative practices to substantially differentiate the touristic products. In this sense, the rich biodiversity of the area of cooperation, the existence of unemployment, the need to use innovation to diversify the tourism supply and strengthen the business sector, and the desirability of promoting the sustainable valuation of the rich natural heritage are factors that determine the appropriateness of undertaking such an initiative in this proposal.
Objectifs principaux – problèmes à traiter: This proposal will focus at relaunching and repositioning the Mediterranean tourism business based on advanced technologies that have not been used at all till today. Our proposal will plan new sustainable actions to couple coastal zones management with all heritage sites and inland protected areas exploitation, thus reducing the seasonality of the tourism flows. New AI techniques for delivering sustainable practices promoted into planning and decision making processes will be in the foreground.
Résultats attendus: New sustainable touristic products in season and/or off-season periods created in specific niches with a cross-border dimension (historic and heritage related tourism); develop new services utilizing innovative technological practices; capacity building of relevant stakeholders involved in project activities; creation of new jobs; increased tourist flows visiting less-known touristic assets during season and/or off-season periods.
