Enhancing technological transfer of transportation sector in developing cities towards being smart

Brève description du projet : Data collection of traffic parameters such as traffic flow, speed and delay is very important for the development and enhancement of the transportation system in any city. The process of data collection is not usually practiced in a well-organized manner. Most developing cities have problems in recording traffic crashes in an efficient manner. In many developing cities pedestrians are very vulnerable and suffer greatly when crossing the road. In some cases where electricity is in short supply the situation becomes worse. Some developing cities experience unnecessary and unacceptable high speeds of vehicles. This is especially experienced on newly developed roads. In many cases it is difficult to acquire speed measuring equipment either because of its price or of being not locally available. Supporting this approach of technological transfer considering improved data banking of transportation sector can move developing cities in the Mediterranean Region towards being smart.

Résultats attendus: a) Developed data bank for Transportation sector b) Mediterranean Smart cities - a transportation portal C) Transferred Technology regarding (1) Recording Traffic Crashes (2) Enhancing pedestrian safety (3) Controlling high speeds of vehicles
